Season 79

WELCOME TO THE L.A. POOL LEAGUE

The Spring 2013 Season of the L.A. Pool League commenced with our biannual Membership Meeting held at The Oxwood Inn on Tuesday evening, January 22, 2013. We now celebrate the kick off of our 79th consecutive Season!

The Members of the Pool League wish to thank the Oxwood Inn and bartender Fernando, for having us as their guests.

It was a bittersweet gathering since it was our first meeting since John Cochran's untimely passing. He will be missed.

We thanked Gibbi  Tkatch (departing BOG member) for his service and applauded Rick Ayres for being our only WCC trophy winner with his fourth place finish in the Open Individuals.

The League presented the "Frank Bustamante Most Improved Player"  Award to Charley McFeeley for her performance during the Fall 2012 Season.

Jeffrey Hersh was confirmed again as League Historian (by acclamation).

Bill Dehn was recognized for his service as League Auditor (on short notice) and for his help with our team scheduling.

We had 33 voting members present. A sad point was the loss of Ricky Bravo and Paul Hughes who chose not to play this season.  We hope they return to the extended family soon. They have been members for nearly 35 years.

A new Penthouse team Captained by Dahlia Heyman  was added.    We also gained the return of a former team at Paladino's and a second MJs team.

Our secretary, Dennis Ryan, did a great job in detailing these comings and goings in the minutes which are attached to this article.

I am pleased to have the help of Bryan  Haneiwich as our new Web Master. Jeffrey Hersh and I will be feeding him information so that he can maintain a web site that will make our League proud and improve our public face.

Good luck to all this season. You can read more details from the Minutes at the link below.

Sincerely,
Bill Hoover
