Don Carrier Tribute
The LAPL held a special tribute to Don Carrier during the 7-8-9 Tournament on Sunday April 13th at Trunks
Don was a major force in our League as soon as he joined us in the mid 1970s. Shortly thereafter, he helped organize and participated in the first Inter-City Challenge prior to West Coast Challenge I.
As a child prodigy, he began playing at the age of 3.
Without question, he was our most gifted player. With more than a thousand players in our history, this is quite a distinction.
He is primarily remembered by his fellow players for his patient mentoring and brilliant skill.
Following his ten or more years as a member, he retired from active status to attend to his business interests.
He remained a loyal supporter both financially and spiritually for nearly forty years. His exhibitions and seminars were well attended.
Most recently, he performed a trick shot exhibition in honor of our dear friend and former member "Big Joe" Dreibus at the HI/LO tournament held at the Sportsman's Lodge on October 2, 2011.
Many of our members have no memory or connection with Don. We take this opportunity to connect them to our history.
I believe it is our duty to honor the memory and loyalty of our former members. They are the foundation of our League...organized in Spring 1974.
