Janell McKane: Long-time LAPL member Janell McKane is moving away from Los Angeles and this was her last season. Janell has been a member of the league for nearly 30 years. She has served as a captain, board member, statistician and multi-term President of the League. In fact, Janell was the first woman to be elected President of the LAPL. Janell is universally loved and she will be greatly missed. Not only has she been of tremendous service to the league, Janell has been a dear friend to many league members over the years and during very difficult times.
In recognition of her many contributions, the LAPL Board of Governors voted to give Janell the Marvin Beisel Award for unusual dedication to the league. The award was presented to Janell on Monday, April 6 at Trunks during a farewell party organized by the Board and several league members. We want to thank everyone who came out and those that helped organize the parts of the farewell party. It was a wonderful farewell event and Janell was indeed very grateful. Janell asked that the following message be shared with the league:
LA Pool League Board of Governors and Members,
I want to thank you all for the wonderful farewell party last night at Trunks. I was completely surprised and touched by all of you that dropped by. Your well wishes, gifts, cards, poster, cake and video tribute made it a special night.
Through the LA Pool League, I have made life-long friendships and have great memories that I will always treasure. My 25 plus years being a part of the league was such a rewarding experience. To become part of the select group to receive the Marvin Beisel award was an unexpected honor and one that truly humbles me.
My sincerest thanks to all of you for the many great years of fun and challenging competition.
Best regards,
Janell
