A big 'THANK YOU' to Colleen for opening up early and keeping the coffee hot and available!! and Ran Refael for running both tournaments.
The Open Individuals tournament ended well into the evening with Bryan Haneiwich, from the Eagle LA Soooeeeze's team defending his 'King of the Hill' position and eventual 1st Place Finish from a very determined challenger, Brenden Quigley from Jerry's Rack em Up #2 team. In the finals, Brenden beat Bryan the first match 3-2 then narrowly lost 2-3 in the second match and had to settle for 2nd Place.

The BOG met via zoom on Tuesday, June 8 beginning at 7:00 p.m. and ended at 8:15 p.m.
Attending BOG: Steve, Gibbi, Malisa, Jose, Angie, Cliff and Al. Attending Members: Allen Fambro, Karyn, Arturo, Ray, Julian, Arnold, Ran, Tod, Ken. There were others on the zoom who's name I did not capture.
WCC: The four cities have agreed that the next WCC is tentatively scheduled for Summer 2022 in San Francisco. The plan is for Los Angeles to co-host the event given that LA was not able to host the last event in Los Angeles planned for Summer 2020. More to come on this.
Discussion around the re-start of the league.
Al recommended the league restart play after July 3, 2021 given the state distancing order is expected to be lifted on June 15, 2021 and venues are opening back up. Discussion followed about contingency plans if the June 15 date is pushed back. Restart league after July 3, 2021 in venues which are open and available for LAPL play.
The board already decided that this next season would be an extended season of likely more than 10 weeks.
A motion to waive the team dues was entertained to help players get back into the league and as a means to attract new players and teams. Input was that each team would have the opportunity to pay/donate a $40 team dues should they be able and want to. Team dues for the Summer/Fall 2021 Season will be free. The league will accept $40 dues from teams which would like to contribute but this is not mandatory.
Given the limited venues in West Hollywood, the group entertained the discussion of Eagle LA and the fact that this venue has two tables. The group discussed the need to assist our sponsors which have always been supportive of the LAPL as they also recover from the Shutdowns. The idea was floated of helping the Eagle to recover its two tables in an effort to help the venue and also create playing conditions for four LAPL teams. The amount for these repairs would need to be brought back to the BOG for approval. Help pay for recovering of the two Eagle tables.
In the spirit of helping the venues which have helped LAPL, the league took up the topic of paying for free pool nights for the LAPL players in the remaining month of June on Tuesdays June 15, 22 & 29 and pay for three tables at Jerry's Billiards from 7-10/11 p.m. This would be a means to help the venue and begin to bring LAPL players back to the league before our official restart of the season. Cover the cost of renting tables for three weeks, not to exceed $324 for the month of June 2021.
Finally, the BOG acknowledged the sadness of the passing of Allen Montalbano. It was unanimously agreed that the first official Fundraiser of the league will be played in his memory with all proceeds being sent to his Mother.
Having no more business to discuss, the meeting ended at 8:15 p.m.
See you this coming Tuesday, June 15 @ 7 p.m., for Free Pool at Jerrys.
