Next Tournament: This Sunday, October 15 @ 12 pm at Little Joy will be our scotch doubles pick a partner Tournament. Bring someone you want to play with or match yourselves there. Alternate shots at the table. Sign up at 12 noon and play at 1 pm.
Thanks to everyone who came out to our End of Summer Pool Party. There were approximately 50 attendees for BBQ, swimming and pool. The venue was spectacular and the vibe was happening. There were several new supporters who came out to make this event a success. We especially thank Allen, Arturo, Malisa, Cliff, Jose, Monty, Todd and Gibbi for their help on this. This was a great first event of its kind.
Board: If you are interested in serving on the board, please let us know. We have three open seats and nominated so far are: Al, Malisa and Arturo. Ran has been appointed to the board to fill the term of Allen Montalbano who is needing to step down do to moving out of the area. October 31st matches: We are informed that some venues will not be available for matches on Halloween. Therefore, we are asking our captains to choose an alternate date to play this match. We do need this match completed before October 31st so we can do the playoff brackets.

Attached are week six stats.
Tomorrow, Saturday, October 7th, will be our End of Summer Pool Party. Get wet, play pool, eat BBQ, hang with friends and have fun. But you must get your tickets now or at the event. It will start at 12 noon and the address is 2907 Lakeridge Drive., Hollywood, 90068. The tickets are $30 and you can get yours at the door or call me at 323-353-0715. Bring your swimming suites and pool sticks. Bring a couple friends to support the league. There will be lots of food and drinks included in the admission price. Email us here is you have questions.

Congrats to Jose Torres who took first place in the Greased Lightening Event and Kerri Frasca who took second; coming in third was Al Ballesteros. Thanks to all who came out to play.
Board Nominations: If you are interested in serving on our board of Governors, please write your name on the scoresheet before the end of week 7. Those nominated so far for the three open seats are: Al Ballesteros, Malisa Mapu and Arturo Carrillo. Elections will take place in week 9. These are volunteer positions and one-year appointed terms.
Games on October 31, Halloween: If your team and the team you are playing do not want or can not play on Halloween, please work it out with that captain and your players to reschedule the match to a different day. We will need to get the scoresheets by October 31st at the latest. We anticipate team playoffs will start Thursday, November 2.

Next Tournament: This Sunday, September 24 @ 12 pm at Jerry's Billiards will be our Lucky Draw Tournament. This is a scotch doubles event where you will be randomly drawn and paired with another player. Sign up at 12 noon and play at 1 pm.

Sudden Death Tournament Results: Congrats to Charley McFeeley for taking first place; Jim Prather on second and Allen Montalbano for coming in third.

Next fundraising Tournament: We will be hosting our Greased Lightning Fundraiser this Sunday, October 3 at the Eagle LA in Silverlake. Sign up begins at 12 noon and play at 1 pm. Please invite a friend and introduce them to the LAPL.

Board of Governors Meeting: We will be having a meeting of the BOG from 12pm to about 12:30 (right before the fundraiser at the Eagle LA Sunday, October 1. Among the items that will be discussed are: Finance Report, Recruitment of New Venues, Player Recruitment and Development of New Teams, 9- Ball Season, BOG elections, Venue for Awards Party; other items as brought by members.

Welcome to the third week of stats. Captains remember to please ensure your players are on our email list. It is the best source of communications from our league.
October 7 End of Summer Pool Party: The LAPL will be hosting a special event, with swimming, a BBQ, drinks and Billiards in a private residence in the Hollywood Hills. This event is to raise funds for league activities and the 2018 Summer West Coast Challenge that LA will be responsible for putting together. Get your tickets from either Allen Montalbano or Al Ballesteros and you can also email us here. Tickets will be $30 per person. If you would like to contribute a raffle item, email us here as well.
Results from our Sunday 9-Ball Tournament: A big congratulations to Inmar Martinez from Jerry's Y-Unit team for taking first place in our 9-ball mini tournament. Inmar played great and was king of the hill. Coming in second was Jose Torres who battled back to a tied, hill/hill final match. In third place was Malisa Mapu and in fourth was Al Ballesteros. Thanks to Jerry's Billiards for hosting us and to all who came out to play.
Next Tournament: This Sunday, September 17 at the Eagle LA with sign up at 12 noon and play at 1 pm. This tournament is called Sudden Death. A pool tournament using 15 marked balls and the cue (white) ball. Successfully pocket any called out ball. If you miss, you receive a strike. Three strikes and you are out.
BOG Nominations: If you would like to serve as a member of the Board, Nominations will open on the fifth night of play for three seats. Write your name on the scoresheet on week 5-7 if interested.
New Venues and Players: Please help us to recruit new players and venues. If you know of players interested in our league, please pass those names on to our BOG by emailing us here. During our weekly games, there are often spectators or customers in the venues who are curious and approach our players. We need your help to ask these interested people to email us here or collect their info and send it to us. Thanks for your help.
