Dear League Members,
Re-Cap: After six exciting weeks, Better Luck Next Time with Captain Phil Stephens leads the league with a 750% followed closely by Stroke of Genius, captain Al Ballesteros with 729%. Leading our Individuals are Tommy Nguyen with 905%, James Prather at 875%, Gabriel Rodriguez at 842% and Al Ballesteros, Tre Rounds and Tod Davenport at 800%. Our top women are Malisa Mapu at 1.000, followed by Marney Cameron at 667% and Lori Perry at 600%.
Next Tournament: Lucky Draw (Calcutta) Tournament, Saturday, October 1st at 12 noon at the Eagle Los Angeles. Play starts at 1 p.m. This will be a Scotch Doubles tournament, so come ready to play and win some $$$.
Congratulations: Thank you to all that came out to our last tournament "Betting on the Team" which was held at Trunks last Sunday. This was a very exciting and well-played tournament and we heard lots of great feedback from all the players. It was great competition. In the end, the #1 winner was Jose Torres (Stroke of Genius), #2 Al Ballesteros (Stroke of Genius), #3 Arnell Ferry (White on Rice) and #4 Saeromi Kim (Scratch This!).
BOG Nominations: We currently have three open seats for the BOG. If you are interested in running, please submit your name on the score sheet or in the comments section of the on-line submissions before the end of week seven. You can also email us here. Currently running are: Al Ballesteros and Arturo Carrillo.
Next meeting of the BOG: The next BOG Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, October 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Trunks. The agenda will be posted next week.
New Players: I want to acknowledge our new players to the league in the past couple of seasons. I've met many of you and I want to personally welcome you to the Los Angeles Pool League. On the Scratch This! team is Emily Huffman, Kerby Ferris and Ruby SawAnn Bryan; representing The Girlz, Marisol Lopez, Marney Cameron and Stephanie Westfall; for Cue Up, David Monroe; for Z8nker's is Amy Olsson, and on No Trouble is Stephen Spanos and we'd like to welcome back Reyleen; representing Nice Rack is Todd Savvas and Maad Alarabi and George Torres on Why So Hard. A belated welcome to Tiffany May who started last season who is playing with Smooth Shaft. I hope I did not miss anyone, if I did, please send your player's name to me and I will make that acknowledgement in the next Cue News.
Players Needed: There is an open position on Ian Dodrill's team The Beautiful People which plays out of C-Frenz. If anyone has a friend or knows someone that is interested in playing in the pool league, please send their name and contact information here. We will get that person in touch with Ian.

Congratulations to Mike Harris who won the 9-Ball Tournament at Trunks this past weekend. In second place was Steve King. MIke was undefeated in the tournament. Al Ballesteros was third and Gary Strait was fourth. We appreciate everyone that came out to participate in this fundraiser. There were also several new players that came out and it was great to see them at the event.
Note: The format was REVISED as of Sep 17. Since we are trying something new this time, we are making some adjustments to the tournament format that's different than the previous email.

Fundraising tournament date: Sunday 9/25/2016.
Registration time: Noon - 1:00pm
Venue: Trunks Bar.
Player entree fee: $15/player
Format: Single player. 8 ball. Double elimination. Race to 3 on winner side. Race to 2 on loser side.
Shock clock: 1 minute will be enforced.
Bidding period: 9/18/2016 - 9/25/2016
Bidding format: Teammates can bid whatever amount on their own team only, bidding on the co-captain and bidding on the captain are considered just one single bid for their team. (If the co-captain or the captain of a team wins the tournament, the team will get the payout.)
Payout: #1 team.
Payout amount: Maximum is total team bid X 2. (The rest of the bid pool will go to the LAPL.)
Timeout: Four 1-minute timeouts per match to get advice from his/her teammates.

9-Ball Tournament:
Please come out this Sunday, September 11 for our next tournament which will be held at Trunks. This will be a 9-Ball tournament with sign up from 12 to 1 p.m. Play will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m. Bring a friend and come enjoy an afternoon of play, 50/50 raffle and drink specials. Free practice will be available from 12 to 1 p.m. Participating in our mini-tournaments are a great way to improve your game and we hope you will join us.
Nominations for the Board of Governors:
If you are interested in placing your name in nomination for a seat on the Board of Governors, please write your name on your scoresheet and add to the comments section when submitting online, or e-mail your name to us here at this address by the end of the 7th week of play. There will be three seats open for consideration.
